Tips and Ideas to Stay Motivated and Lose Weight


I created this resource page to easily list recommended products or Gyms that I use and/or those I know are valuable. This way you can quickly find great products and services all in one place. I will only recommend items I have genuinely used and trust.  I will always update this page as I experience new products so make sure you check back from time to time!  Below is a picture of my home gym and some of my equipment.

Tosca Reno was the God send of nutrition to me.  She breaks down what to eat and when in the simplest forms.  She explains exactly why we need to eat certain nutrients and best of all, she breaks down nutrition labels.  When you go to the grocery store you have confidence after reading this book!



Chris Powell helped me to understand what carb cycling was and how to do it without feeling overwhelmed or deprived.  It also gave me the confidence that if and when I fall to realize I didn’t fail and just keep going.



This is an AMAZING yoga workout!  Mandy Ingber using both yoga and body weight exercises to lose weight and tone up like no other yoga dvd I have ever done!  I’m not usually a perspire type person but I will break a sweat on this one!

YogaBurn is great for beginners!  There’s a lot more options for these because of the amount of workouts provided.  I haven’t been through all of them, but I did enjoy the ones I did.  They remind me of a more traditional yoga class.



So I could put up EVERY Jillian DVD because they ALL work, but this is my go to!  I could tell even just going for a walk and not being out of breath while walking at a faster pace then previously!  It’s a definitely strength builder and by the time you get tired, it’s done!



If you like fast paced yoga, this is the one for you!  I loved this yoga DVD.  It’s quick and there’s faster movement so I didn’t get bored.  The stretches felt so amazing after as well!

Speaking of, it’s ALL good, Beachbody workouts!  You’ve heard of P90X, Insanity, 21 Day Fix and Turbo Jam!  I’m finding now that streaming them through Beachbody On Demand is cheaper than buying all the individual DVD’s!


This is the fitbit I have, minus my purple armband.  I love it!  It is harder for me to reach the 10,000 steps as it is for others but I also love that this thing counts my heart rate, stairs climbed and calories burned.  I’m also a watch fanatic so I like that it’s included as well!


These are my Brooks!  They’ve outlasted any other shoe I’ve ever bought and never needed broken in.   They are crazy comfortable and the best part is, they breathe!!!!  When you lift your foot you can see your socks inside the mesh lining of the shoe so when you are running, air flows through the shoe keeping your feet cooler!  AMAZING!!!


The Nike Flex Run!  Althought they don’t breathe AS MUCH as the brooks, I will say they are like walking on foam.  If I could blend the two I’d take the comfort of the Flex Run and the mesh top of the 

Brooks.  I could walk all day in these.  My pair is bright red, don’t judge they were for my oldest but still kind of big so I got them and that’s her school colors 🙂

Oh dear sweet baby Jesus!!!  The Supreme Pilates Pro!  I cannot say enough good things about this!  BEST equipment purchase of my life!!!  It incorporates yoga, pilates, and barre workouts in one machine!  This thing is just amazing!  It comes with four DVD’s and each one is only 15 minutes and you feel a difference after using this thing a couple times!  EVERYONE has 15 minutes.  Best of all, it folds up for easy storage!

I have one kettle bell and it’s all I need to get a quick full body workout in.  There’s so many exercises you can do with this one tool.  I just you tube kettle bell 

workouts or go to my pinterest for workout ideas and go to town!  Everyone needs at least one of these for their routine.

We all know what a good treadmill can do but the best part of these, I find, is the videos of trails or parks you can use to simulate running so you don’t get bored.  It’s so cool to be in my basement running through Central Park or the Grand Canyon.  Not to mention, walking at an incline is a great way to lose the belly!  

I no longer own one of these but sure do miss it.  I will be looking at getting another one as soon as we expand out gym because it’s getting crowded in there now.  This thing does a full body resistance workout and results come fairly quickly when used at least 4 or 5 times a week.
